The GIS means Geographical Information Systems and GISDA is an initiative of Science & Technology Park University of Pune to provide Geographical Information that can be converted into knowledge by the city planners and administrators whenever and wherever required.

This project is undertaken jointly with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and it shall enable the PCMC administration to have the best advantages of Information Technology with a continuous and online interaction with its citizens together they have conceptualised GISDA : - Geographical Information Systems for Dynamic Administration in simple terms, a very high resolution satellite image of the PCMC area is processed with unique data bases and unique state of the art software solutions, in small units at zone level, ward level and at gat level to provide information as an aggregation of a large amount of spatial data that is be a powerful blending of static, dynamic and query-able informational content, coupled with transactional components that aid the planners and administrators and other general users for GISDA. Functionality will be from a central place from where it is presented in a user oriented format for purposeful service to the citizens. Commonly required information like property tax, permission, in addition to facilities like hospitals, schools, recreation and entertainment, fire and safety etc will be displayed on the screen of the computer and at the click of a mouse from anywhere, anyplace, access shall be possible for the common man to reap benefits.

In turn the administration shall use it to increase revenue by close watch and ward of the assets under its charge, ensure timely completion of infrastructure projects, and monitor progress, and also facilitate interdepartmental updates etc. What makes this initiative unique is that the entire development is made on OPEN SOURCE platforms.The advantages are Complete open source entails no payment of any royalty for software or license fees which are normally paid per user, we shall be owning the code, so we shall have the complete control.

GISDA is built with more than 100 layers of information. Citizens would be able to access at the click of a mouse some of these layers from the internet. Information of road network, major landmarks, community centres, playgrounds educational institutions, hospitals, etc. can be quickly glanced from the internet. Moreover, this information shall not stay static but will be constantly updated. GISDA shall launch a new era of citizen and administration symbiosis.
